We fell in love with this organic tweed coat as soon as we laid eyes on it! Styled on an Austrian loden-coat, which features the characteristic large pleat down the back, this is definitely a highly investable timeless classic.
Award-winning British fashion designer Eloise Grey is committed to the principles of organic, ethical, local and environmentally conscious design. Her tweeds are from Isle of Mull Weavers and uses fair trade organic hand-loom cotton lining from India.
Eloise Grey’s Elizabeth coats work very well as an everyday coat and will look fab with trousers. The herringbones, for example, give quite a dramatic look with the zig-zags of the weave and the strong angles of the style. The oatmeal (pictured), is much softer. Eloise’s collection is largely inspired by writers of the 1930s & 40s although the two Elizabeth coats (II pictured here) broke the pattern, as she recalled photos of the princesses Elizabeth & Margaret in the 1940's all buttoned up in their Harris tweed coats. What's not to love?
