It's a difficult task to find gorgeous sustainable under-garments. Today The GIN Lady hunts down the creme de la creme of green lingerie to make it easier to be a truly eco-chic lover.

Whether it's to beat the Monday blues, put a cheeky grin on your face or to show off your intimate green credentials, wearing gorgeous underwear can have an amazing effect on our moods. The trouble is matching our green beliefs with the desire to feel feminine, sexy or simply comfy in our own knickers. Eco Boudoir will leap to mind for those of you in the know, and they are unrivalled in their ethical silk drawers. The GIN Lady especially loves this tie camisole silk top and french knickers. And it's wonderful to know their silk has been naturally produced, fairly traded without any formaldehydes, methodine, bleach or child-bonded labour. Indeed, these ingredients are a real turn-off, but can be rife in lingerie, and the fashion industry as a whole.

The GIN Lady can’t wait to get her hands on these ultra sexy thigh highs. But what really turns her on is they’re made from recycled white pine-tree prunings. According to By Nature, they’re as “soft as silk with the feel of cashmere and the coolness of linen”.  Best of all they have all the properties you’d want from thigh highs: They stay up; the fibre regulates your temperature; the anti-bacterial material is coloured with low impact dyes and they won’t lose their shape. Another brand that immediately comes to mind when I think of sexy lingerie is of course the sustainably gorgeous brand, Enamore. Love 'em!

I rather fancy this racy leopard print Bedrock Betty Knicker and Bra set. Because the material is bamboo, the set promises to be silky smooth to touch and is pretty in candy pink bows. Enamore is definitely the place to go for a wide range of cheeky but feminine lingerie. You will be a feast for your partner's eyes!

And it's not just their lingerie I lust after. At the moment I'm putting together my Enamore 'top to toe' wish list, as their collection just gets better and better. 

Another special brand that's recently caught my eye is Luva Huva. Joanna Ketterer is behind this innovative eco lingerie label. She uses a variety of end of line fabrics, remnants and cut-offs that would otherwise go to waste. She says on her website: "All the materials are sourced locally and every garment is handmade in the UK by myself, meaning my knickers have a small carbon footprint." Her online shop offers a beautiful capsule collection of knickers, bras and camis. I particularly like these Rosa dusky pink french knickers. Luva Huva is well worth a visit.

Talking of handmade, we could of course make our own! If that sounds like a difficult task, then I'd highly recommend The Make Lounge. Their website is absolutely gorgeous, and I'm bowled over by the variety of classes on offer (I will definitely write about them in the near future). One of their short and easy workshops that I'm going to sign up for with a friend is 'Knockout Knickers'. It's a 3 and a half hour class on how to make either a pair of thongs, briefs or boys knickers. At the class you'll learn how to make one of these, and take home patterns for the other designs. You'll learn how to sew with elastic, create the perfect bow, plus use overlocking machines to finish seams. Sounds fantastic to me: Learn to sew cool stuff, while making new like-minded friends.

So there you have it, a round up of The GIN Lady's favourites. I wish there were more sexy lingerie labels with ethics, and it's sad to realise there are so few. If you're simply looking for a comfy pair to slip on, then I also recommend Green Knickers, Adili, and Buy Organic.
