Solar Powered Style by Bird Textiles

As London Fashion Week's Estethica exhibition has now drawn to a close, we wanted to share one of our favourite highlights... discovering Bird Textiles. Hailing from 'down under', Bird is pioneering sustainability in design as the first 'carbon neutral' business in Australia and has a great story to share.

With all that sunshine in Australia, it's a surprise so few businesses harness the sun's power. Not Bird Textiles. This innovative design company uses 100% renewable energy to power all its manufacturing operations. As Bird is now a household name in Australia, we're hoping other commercial entities catch on.

Their high quality cotton fabrics are also sourced from an Indian mill Bird works directly with, and use their SKAL certified organic cotton. But it's the prints we've really fallen in love with. Printed with water-based dyes, all the hand illustrated prints are inspired by botanical elements native to the Byron Bay region where Bird is based.

Our favourite piece of clothing is their Kaftan Shirt Dress and can be dressed up or down, depending on whether you want to slip it on after the beach (sipping an organic gin and tonic of course!) or putting on some heels and accessorising it up! Unique, stylish and bold - our type of dress! Not that Bird limit themselves just to dresses as their online store has oodles of separates to keep you stylish.

The great news is that Bird doesn't limit itself to fashion and fabrics, this eco retro textiles company also extends its flair to homewares and we're digging its approach applied to a wide range of goodies for your home. From table clothes, vases, doorstops, bird homes, buttons and much much more, you'll find a treasure chest of gems to make your home stylishly unique.

To find out more about Bird, their products and their pioneering approach to sustainability, visit Bird Textiles.

this is a really cool idea- i love the vases! do they sell any bags? I'm looking around for a cute overnight tote that is eco-friendly and found one at guffly.com ... i think i might get that one!

Solar bird bath fountains are relatively newer to the market. The solar powered pump makes water run through the bird bath. Keeping the water moving not only attracts more wild birds it also prevents stagnation.A solar bird bath is a fantastic addition to any lawn or garden adding both beauty and function.thanks....
